Recently the topic of how I don't like my name seems to keep coming up. I actually love my name.
Elizabeth Margaret
If you ask me, it sounds kinda cool. But no one calls me by that name. Just Liz. Let's go back 10+ years...
There were four girls named Elizabeth in my grade in elementary school. We went by Liz, Lizzy, Beth, and Elizabeth (that one was me.) In 5th or 6th grade a new girl moved in and her name was Elizabeth. I was forced to either share that name or pick a new name to share, so I picked Liz. It sounded cool to me. Around my senior year of high school I didn't think I really fit the name Liz. I started going by Elizabeth at Utah State, but my teachers decided they liked Liz better. Every "new" place I go I introduce myself as Elizabeth and everyone assumes "Liz."
There are some great people I know named Liz. I just don't think it fits me.
Fun fact! When I was born my name was Elizabeth and it stayed that way for a while. When I was about five years old I asked why I didn't have a middle name and why it couldn't be Margaret like my mom and grandma. A few phone calls later and my name was officially changed to Elizabeth Margaret.
The End.
